A pond in the middle of my body (publication)
A period of time used to be inhabited by dreams. Not nightmares. In those dreams, a particular reptile would dwell. Non venomous, small or long, black or brown or green, usually resting or passing by. In time, my own water body started to have feelings. An invisible being was living and diving in that deep, green water. These experiences became a performance. Photographs of my changed body when the pond was gone. When I started living beside a forest, all the walks turned into photographs of old dreams that never really left.
By making this compilation, I pay tribute to a time that will forever be cherished and acknowledge the mystical and unknown sensations I felt with a pond inside me.
Lotus was on my mind while creating this compilation. The lotus flower, known for its fragility, is a symbol of rebirth and ephemerality. I found the unpredictable and tactile nature of Riso compelling. The book's loose sheets make it palpably intricate and convoluted. Its digital stencil colour is time-sensitive.
The book thus becomes a time-based experience.
