It’s a story of becoming.
When I wanted to write, I majored in science. When I wanted to study design, I had to go for Economics. When I wanted to focus on who I really want to become, I got pregnant. When I chose to be an artist, I needed to earn a living to support my mother.

I was born and brought up in Dhaka, Bnagladesh and I still live and work here. I grew up in a working-class family that hardly had any time to give a child the opportunity to find their interests. So, I had to find my way after many ups and downs. The photos below are from  plays I have acted since 1999. Theatre has taught me to repose, restore and repurpose. It is theatre, which gave me a space to groom myself, unlearn and re-learn from scratch.
My interest in working with archival materials and lost cultural identity,  searching for visuals to represent people around the Indian ocean always comes from theatrical tropes.
